Friday 29/6/12 – Students from all grades of Holroyd High School put on an amazing show for the viewing pleasure of students and parents to finish the term with a bang. An outstanding range of musical performances and dances entertained audiences and left everyone singing along on the way to a safe and happy holiday period.
The afternoon began with a marvellous Arabic drumming routine by students from 8.2 Music, including cultural dances by Rovina Kpahn and Silva Nouh. Year 7 students then stepped forward to produce a sublime Justin Bieber mash up that rivalled the pop star's own versions of his songs.
Further songs performed included Aaron Narayan and Nicholas Cooper drumming, while Mark Monneron of year 11 and Neal Fraser of year 12 shared guitaring duties throughout performances. Singers included Alex Fielding, Melvin Winpea, Sharen Yuvialis, Taniela Moala, Maheen Bhutta and Amnie El Hayek. Jennifer McCartney and Lauren Fraser also had a hand in musical performances on bass and drums respectively and followed up by participating in a dance routine with Sena Karaer and Maheen Bhutta. Karn Suwanrit and Yelena Nam performed two songs to continue their history of great performances in high school events.
Drama performances involved both dances, in particular a cultural dance by year 9 students Freekie Dawo, Ruth James, Hosna Sharifi and Patricia Matshioz, and an act by year 12 students that had the crowd holding their sides with laughter.
