About the faculty
Mathematics learning at Holroyd High School is facilitated with a strong focus on quality teaching and engagement of students. Students participate in significant activities that promote effective communication, higher order thinking and mathematical investigation.
Mathematics teachers at our school employ a range of information and communication technologies to engage students, including GeoGebra and Mathletics, which is available to all students in Years 7 to 10 via individual passwords. Students are also expected to be actively using Google classroom which is available through Google apps to comunicate with teachers online.
If you have any questions or inquiries, please feel free to call the school during normal school hours to arrange an appointment. Further information about student homework and senior courses is attached below.
Mathematics support
The mathematics teachers at Holroyd High School are offering extra assistance to any student from Years 7 to 12 who are requiring additional support with their homework or preparing for assessment tasks.
The help times provided are as follows:
- every Tuesday and Thursday before school at 7.30am
- every Tuesday and Thursday during lunchtime
- every Wednesday after school at 3pm.
Mathletics
Mathletics is a website that provides students with an interactive, online textbook as well as instant feedback and endless resources for study in their own time. Mathletics also provides teachers with an additional assessment tool to provide better feedback for students.
Usernames and passwords are purchased by the school and given to students. Parents can call the school at any time to obtain their child's password.
Mathletics has a range of quizzes that will be used in mathematics classes to assess each student's grasp of a particular concept. In the lead up to this assessment, students will be expected to complete smaller exercises as preparation. Mathletics also acts as a replacement to the textbook that students have used in previous years.
