Partnership with the Real Madrid Foundation

Real Madrid and Holroyd High School logo

On Wednesday 24 May 2017, Holroyd High School became a Social Sports School in partnership with the Real Madrid Foundation. This is an exciting opportunity for our school and students to be part of a program that is recognised across the world in over 75 countries worldwide.

The Real Madrid Foundation was setup in 1997 as a non-profit organisation and aims to promote, both at national and international level, the values attached to the sports practice and its promotion as an educational tool. These values include respect, equality, companionship, autonomy, motivation, health, self-esteem, tolerance and solidarity.

A total of 10 Holroyd High School staff were trained by a Real Madrid Foundation trainer, Nacho, for 3 days. The training enabled coaches to begin to implement the program integrated through the sports program currently at Holroyd High School.

On Friday 24 November, the school hosted a Real Madrid Foundation student versus coaches soccer match on the top oval in support of White Ribbon Day. The students, wearing their uniforms for the first time, won 2 to 0. It was a great time with a barbeque put on by youth off the streets.

We are so thankful to the Real Madrid Foundation staff, Nacho and Rosa, for the time and effort they have taken to come all the way from Madrid, Spain to train and encourage staff and students at Holroyd High School.

Thank you to Victoria for her contribution as the ambassador for Real Madrid Foundation in Australia. We are looking forward to this new and exciting partnership with Real Madrid Foundation.
